    The new civil war in South Sudan has resulted in major disruption of livestock production, the main economic activity of the countries 11 million population. According to IRIN, the conflict has disrupted migration routes and disease patterns in a way that has sparked fresh cycles of violence and jeopardized the country's broader social cohesion. The FAO notes that, as a result of widespread displacement of livestock, “tribal conflicts, cattle raids, and disease outbreaks have all intensified on an unprecedented scale, tearing at the social, political, and economic fabric of South Sudan.
