I hope his issues will be resolved. But I also hope that his parents receive counseling with him. They have to fix this mess as a whole family. This would not have happened if the parents have done their job right in raising him. Of course it is not entirely their fault, but somehow they are liable for this.

Yes you are very right! The internet is a marvelous place but also a very dangerous one. Who knows what the boy has learned from there. Parents should have a firewall that limits what a child can search on their computer. Watching the television can also be an influence on the boy. It is important that they guide him whenever he is watching violent shows.

Times have really changed! It is not until college that I really knew what sex is. And now, kids know so much because of the internet and television. As you said, friends can also be an influence. I just pity the poor girl and the trauma she will be taking for life from this incident. It is only right that the boy have been held and will be punished. But more than that, he has to have some counseling to know what his issues are. There might be some problems that needs to be adressed as to why he was able to do such a crime.

This is really shocking. I never heard of a woman waped by such a young boy. By the way I guess tha this young dude must have some serious mental problems if at that age you're really thinking about raping and stuff. These type of people one day will do something more dangrous than raping such mass kill or something like that so I guess it's a good idea to get him into a mental health asylum.

Yes this kid truly needs psychological help! I think both the victim and the attacker need some counseling as well as their parents. This will take some years before they can get through this difficult situation. The boy needs to be counseled and reformed now before his situation worsens. I hope it not gets to that point.

But I think the girl would need more counseling too as she was really traumatized by this incident. I cannot imagine such a thing happening to a girl with a young age. She needs help so as she will cope and understand that it is not her fault she was attacked like this.

The article stated that his first juvenile court appearance on July 15.Was there a decision made ? over counselling the attacker/sentencing him to prison ?
Parents really should keep a watch to what their child watches on the internet. He really needs punishment and counselling because he can be threat should be let scot free.

Here is the thing, many parents are way too prude that they make sex a taboo subject at home. Because of that kids are becoming more curious and they learn about sex with the wrong source of information. I believe sex education should be discussed at home. Most sexually active kids are the ones who got curious because their parents make it such a taboo subject. If that boy got told how to treat women right and sex were only for adults, things would have been different.

There is also a possibility that the boy grew in an abusive household that's why he ends up that way.

My view is that if they are committing such atrocities so young, it probably has a lot to do with environment around them. Most likely the incarcerated surroundings won't be better, and when released, they will return to their origins, likely not learning a thing. The next time they commit a serious offense the punishment will be a lot stricter.
He can only be held in Juvy until 18 or 19 I think. I can't remember at the moment. After that it is up to the court if they want to continue the sentence in an actual jail or prison. Most likely not. Most (unless they commit crimes such as murder or are habitual offenders) are released and their records expunged. If they commit any crimes after that they are tried as adults and it remains on their criminal record then.

yes.You can try a juvenile only till 18.
In India during nirbhaya case everyone fumed to why one of he guys who raped the girl wasn't tested as adult. He was 17 odd when he committed the crime and they had to test him as juvenile only when he appeared in court.
Sometimes we need to go by level of offence as well.

These kinds of incidents are big blows to our civilized society. That girl might have gone through a major mental shock at such a tender age of 13. I think the internet porn is a major culprit behind such crimes being committed by a boy of this age. There should be some control in the usage of porn sites.

In India even though Government put a ban on certain porn sites, they were forced to withdraw it due to public protest !

I don't believe porn is what makes people rape. I discovered porn at a very young age and raping someone never crossed my mind and it didnt make me sexually active neither. I had lost my virginity at age 20 and it is consensual. If a man or boy is raised by his parents to respect women and he didn't grew up in an abusive or dysfunctional family environment, that is someone who is prone to become a rapist. Porn kept on getting blamed when many countries were porn is legal have low rape rate and many countries where porn is illegal have have high rape rate. Porn make men turn into sexual predator as majority of them just lock their selves inside their bedroom. Bad parenting is what makes a man rapist.

Porn has nothing to do with it. Rape of this nature has existed long before porn. Can't throw blame on outside sources for every incident. Such as when they blamed rock music for teenage rebellion and violence because of television. It is either the child has a miss connection where they are not receiving information correctly so they are reacting inappropriately or they are not receiving proper instruction and guidance at home.

It is all about parenting for sure , I played the most violent video games in existence and I never considered murdering people. A Boy who is raised well by his parents to know what is right or wrong and what is the difference between fantasy and reality will all turn out well even if they got exposed to the most negative form of entertainment they can see on TV or movies. It all starts with early development. Most abusive husbands grow up in abusive households. Its a repeating cycle. Good parenting should be taught at school at a very young age.
